The Duke of Edinburgh's Award...
North Country Guides have been delivering
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award at all levels for 15 years and have a wealth of experience delivering the training programme and supervising groups in the outdoors.
We provide opportunities for expeditions in all areas of the United Kingdom and can advise on the suitability of routes for groups undertaking the D of E.
Our standard programme includes:
Training - A 2-day training course held on your site or other suitable
location which covers all aspects of your expedition, including equipment
choice, camp craft, menu planning, navigation, first aid, safety and route
planning.
Practice Expedition - Supervised Practice Expedition over 2 days (3 days for
Gold) in an area providing similar conditions to your Qualifying Expedition. Day 1
will be spent putting into practice the basics of navigation in the outdoors
and consolidating the training that was delivered on the earlier part of your
programme. Day 2 / 3 will be under remote supervision to allow you to develop
your leadership, teamwork and become more self-reliant.
Qualifying Expedition –A supervised expedition, assessed by an accredited assessor.
Qualifying Expeditions are planned to meet all of the 20
conditions laid down by the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
